Free guide for Victorian Councils - Deliberative Engagement and the Local Government Act

FREE E-BOOK

What local government needs to know about deliberative practices as they work to implement the new provisions in the Local Government Act

The Local Government Act Victoria (2020) states in section 55 that councils must adopt a community engagement policy that includes deliberative engagement practices that are capable of being applied to the development of the Community Vision, the Council Plan, the Financial Plan and the Asset Plan.

This guide steps councils through what they need to know about deliberative practices as they work to implement the new provisions of the Act. Some councils are well advanced and have significant experience with deliberative engagement. Many of these councils have worked in partnership with MosaicLab. Others may be new to this approach.

The book draws on knowledge we have gained through the design and facilitation of 25 deliberative processes since 2014.
