FOR LYNDAL, MOSAICLAB IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE

They provide the full package! MosaicLab builds organisational capability so that the understanding and value of good quality engagement is built into the organisations they work with. They also work from a strong values base and where there is genuine influence.

LYNDAL BELIEVES

  • Communities make strong sustainable decisions that provide better outcomes for themselves if they are given the chance. They understand their environment, the impacts, the opportunities and will work out a path forward if the right process supports their participation.

  • Genuine dialogue that builds enduring relationships supports working with communities through constructive and challenging conversations.

  • Deliberative engagement is a powerful approach that supports democracy and truly places community front and centre in working through a solution that best suits them.

  • Community engagement can be fun, rewarding and it brings out the most wonderful human stories and experiences….it is humbling!

LYNDAL IS KNOWN FOR

  • Her understanding of State and Local Government.

  • Establishing relationships that enable people to feel relaxed, comfortable and participate in dialogue.

  • Her knowledge of engagement methodology across small and large scale projects, and approaches to enable community resilience.

LYNDAL KNEW THIS WAS HER CALLING WHEN

She first commenced working in community events, leisure programs and community arts development, which brought her in contact with people from many different backgrounds.

Working directly with communities and in government has always been a passion of Lyndal’s and she designed many processes to engage communities in the outcomes of the programs she delivered - from public art through to reinvigorating festivals that represented the local community spirit. This was many years ago, prior to her knowing that a community engagement industry existed.

Upon returning from working overseas, Lyndal stumbled across some training courses and discovered that her natural way of working was an actual profession. Lyndal jumped straight into finding an engagement role and has never looked back.

LYDNAL LOVES ...

  • Co-designing the methodology and seeing it come to fruition.

  • When you support an individual, team and/or organisation in building their engagement capability and something just clicks for them. They get a sense of the rigour and process behind an engagement approach and their confidence increases.

  • When people are passionate about what is important to them and that they are respectfully listened to by decision makers.

SOMETHING YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT LYNDAL

I have worked for MosaicLab on a casual basis previously, including on the Geelong Citizens Jury. I have also been team mates with the wonderful Kate Henderson at the City of Melbourne.

It is worth noting that three of us at MosaicLab have all worked for the Department of Environment at some stage in our careers.
