Each year we donate our time and skills through ML Giving, our pro bono program which supports groups and organisations undertaking important and impactful work.
In 2025, we partnered with three organisations that are supporting vulnerable people in their communities.
A big thank you to the following groups for inviting our facilitators into your worlds - we are humbled by the powerful work you do:
Melbourne Tautoko Whanau: A volunteer-run charity supporting more than 400 families each week in the Werribee area with food relief, care packages and community connection
Infoxchange: A not for profit social enterprise delivering technology for social justice.
Mornington Community Support Centre: Supporting people across the Mornington Peninsula with emergency relief, information, advocacy and community programs.
If you are looking for some charities to support this Christmas season, please do consider donating to or volunteering for one of these incredible organisations.
We are all about supporting conversations that matter and we feel proud to donate our time and facilitation skills to empower others to move forward with clarity and confidence. Thank you also to our facilitation team for the investment they made this year into this important work.
Shaping shared direction for a growing community service
Mornington Community Support Centre (MCSC)
After more than 40 years supporting the Mornington community, MCSC is at a pivotal point. Rising demand, growing complexity in client needs and financial uncertainty are posing big challenges for this much-needed service.
Process: Two strategic planning workshops
MosaicLab’s role: Design and facilitation
Participants: 20 volunteers, staff and committee members
Timeframe: May to August 2025
Outputs: Four leading ideas to guide the 2026–2029 strategy
MCSC supports people across the Mornington Peninsula with emergency relief, information, advocacy and community programs. As demand grows and client needs become more layered and challenging, they reached out for support to plan their next three years with intention and care.
We designed and delivered two full day workshops with 20 volunteers, staff and committee members at the Mornington Park Pavilion. Using visual tools, conversation and group reflection, we explored current realities, client trends, volunteer insights, values, stakeholder perspectives and what success could look like in 2028.
Together, participants generated four leading ideas to guide the development of the 2026–2029 strategic plan.
The ideas are now being reviewed as inputs into the next three-year strategy, with a commitment from the board to close the loop with everyone involved.
“We spent a couple of days really focusing on what matters most to us. It’s been an incredible experience working with expert facilitators - we’re so grateful for the opportunity, and excited to see what we might be able to do together over the next couple of years.”
Planning for five years of community impact
Melbourne Tautoko Whanau
Melbourne Tautoko Whanau (MTW) supports more than 400 families each week in Werribee with food relief, care packages and connection. The group invited us to support them as they took time to pause, reflect and plan for the next five years.
Process: Strategic planning workshop
Participants: 4 committee members
Timeframe: One day - June 2025
Outputs: Foundations for a five year strategy
We designed and facilitated a four hour strategic workshop for the MTW committee members at their Reclink venue, where food packages are prepared and distributed. Together we explored working styles, identified ‘tailwinds and roadblocks’, described their desired future and drafted the foundations of a strategy focused on growth, volunteer recruitment, operational efficiencies and financial sustainability.
The day was marked by warm bowls of pumpkin soup, time in the sun and many waves from families collecting their weekly food baskets.
The workshop helped shape the key components of MTW’s next five-year strategy, with a strong focus on supporting their long-term financial sustainability.
“Can’t thank you and MosaicLab enough for the time and guidance you have given us. ”
“Time with this dedicated group of volunteers was nourishing (literally and figuratively) and inspiring. And a career highlight for me was a ‘waiata’ thank you song at the end of the workshop.”
Building confidence in safe and inclusive data practice
Infoxchange
Infoxchange is a social enterprise delivering technology for social justice. Many organisations in their network are grappling with how to use AI safely and ethically, and how to build data processes that are fit for purpose. MosaicLab was invited to deliver two online events to help build internal confidence and capability.
Process: Capability uplift session and webinar
Participants: 24 (DCN session) and 21 (Asia–Pacific webinar)
Timeframe: August to October 2025
Outputs: Shared actions and insights to strengthen data practice
MosaicLab facilitated an initial session with the Data Catalyst Network (DCN), bringing together 24 people to explore safe and inclusive approaches to data. The group reflected on current challenges, considered what matters most to their stakeholders and identified actions to make data engagement more effective.
We then delivered a webinar where 21 Asia-Pacific participants joined a conversation on how AI can support people, community and purpose. We shared examples of how we plan, facilitate and report using AI while grounding our approach in ethics and practices that align with our principles.
Participants identified practical actions to improve their data practices and shared thoughtful insights about applying AI with people and purpose at the centre.
“Melinda and Keith delivered a sensational session on using AI to support community focused work. Not only was it delivered with aplomb, but it was also highly engaging and relevant to the sector.”
“Connecting with this community was a wonderful opportunity for MosaicLab to take stock of our own journey using AI. As a small organisation we know and understand that time is precious, so I really enjoyed sharing some tips with attendees they can implement quickly. ”
