BIG BOOK MAKES A BIG FIRST IMPRESSION

MosaicLab book flying around the world

Deliberative democracy has a thriving, global fanbase and we’re thrilled and humbled by the reaction so far to the big MosaicLab book.

130 copies of the book have been sold to date and are being shipped to (or digitally downloaded in) Germany, Canada, the UK, Japan, the US, New Zealand and just about every state in Australia.

Plus, more than 150 RSVPs have already come in for our online book launch on July 28, with guests attending representing diverse countries and sectors. From public service professionals and CEOS through to academics and private industry leaders - we’re seeing a huge response from people representing a range of roles and industries.

The launch event will feature a surprise special guest (who is very well-known in Australian politics) - join us on the night to discover who it is! He (there’s a clue) will be joining our international keynote speaker Art O’Leary, former Secretary of Ireland’s Convention on the Constitution.

Thank you for the support and encouragement so far, it’s wonderful to see so many of you sharing in our excitement about the book since its release.

And remember, early-bird gifts run out in just two days!

Read on to see what just one book reviewer - Iain Walker of the newDemocracy Foundation - has to say and to view a video featuring candid insights from the authors.

KIND WORDS FROM the NEWDEMOCRACY FOUNDATION

Some generous praise came in from our friend and fellow champion of democratic innovation Iain Walker, Executive Director of the newDemocracy Foundation, who said:

At newDemocracy, we design Citizens’ Jury processes, and governments hire facilitation teams to deliver them.

As an analogy, we write recipes, and facilitators are the chefs who bring them to life. And as you know, a great chef can make an omelette amazing, and a poor chef can turn Ottolenghi into a tragedy your pets won’t touch.

We’re keen to see great facilitators all around the country so that governments always have people to turn to.

Many of you will know that we have worked with The University of Technology Sydney to develop two training courses (Doing, Leading). Another initiative we have been keen to see is a leading facilitation operator creating a workbook open to everyone, sharing in detail how they think and work.

Well, one of the country’s elite operators is MosaicLab, and they’ve created this book capturing how they work in the room.
— Iain Walker, newDemocracy Foundation

Thanks Iain! We especially enjoyed the food analogy. Only you could make (the very apt) link between facilitators and omelettes!
