PRINCIPALS WITH PRINCIPLES! MEET OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM

Lyndal and Jane are senior facilitators that have recently stepped into strategic, leadership roles at MosaicLab.

They both share a love for people, learning and, it turns out, food! They bring a wealth of experience drawn from varied and rich career backgrounds, and have strong, shared values that align with our principles.

At MosaicLab, we retain these principles as our foundation while also seeking to innovate, adapt and strengthen our practice. Jane and Lyndal are key drivers of this effort, which enables us to deliver work that achieves the best possible outcomes for organisations, decision-makers and communities.

Each principal is responsible for a key area. Lyndal is our training lead, overseeing the management of our MosaicLab Academy, while Jane is quality and communication lead, overseeing areas such as content development and continuous improvement of all things MosaicLab.

Jane and Lyndal are not new to the MosaicLab family. However, they’re new to the principal role, and we wanted to delve a little deeper into what makes them tick, what they’re here to offer and who they are when they’re not in facilitator mode.

Witnessing how people change and grow throughout a process is something I truly value.
— Lyndal MacKintosh

1. What are you hoping to achieve in the next 12 months at mosaicLab?

I’m really looking forward to learning more about the inner workings of the business and having input into choosing the work we do. From a training perspective, I’m excited to further develop how we support people and organisations to build their communication and engagement skills to achieve a greater positive impact with their communities.

2. what energises you at work?

I love people! I really enjoy meeting a person and learning the best ways to work with and support them. Witnessing how people change and grow throughout a process is something I truly value.

I also love the variety of our work - no two days are the same and we are always meeting new people and working a on range of different projects.

3. What ARE the highlights of your mosaicLab journey so far?

Supporting the Community Panel on the Quit Victoria and VicHealth project, which deliberated around how to reduce tobacco-related harm in public housing.

I love tackling important conversations and working with clients who are brave and ready to try new engagement approaches and trust our expertise. The project presented a range of challenges and we had to constantly adapt and think on our feet. It was such a rewarding experience.

I also really enjoy it when our team comes together for team meetings or strategy weeks. MosaicLab is such a supportive and collaborative environment and there is always something to learn. Having the opportunity to come together, collaborate and learn from each other is something I always look forward to.

Jane LOVEJOY

Working with a smart, highly skilled and specialised team means I’m always learning and expanding my own knowledge.
— Jane Lovejoy

1. What are you hoping to achieve in the next 12 months at mosaicLab?

I’m a bit of a systems and processes nerd and I am all about continuous improvement. Over the next 12 months I’m hoping to work with the team to continue to enhance our capability to deliver projects to the highest of standards and strengthen the impact of what we do.

My role as communications lead also means I get to tell stories about what we do. I’m going to continue to give you insider insights into the big issues we tackle, the diverse participants we support and the fabulous organisations we work with (who I commend for investing in this work).

I’ll also be creating lots of free resources! We share our knowledge and learnings generously so we can help others build their skills - it’s one of the things I love best about MosaicLab.

2. What energises you at work?

Our team! Having a smart, highly skilled and specialised team means there’s always something new to learn. They’re great to bounce ideas off and strategise with.

Also, creating free stuff! I’m really into creating high value content. It brings me joy to publish something that can be practically applied to someone’s real engagement project or dilemma.

3. What have been the highlights of your mosaicLab journey so far?

One would be working with the three co-founders (Nicole, Keith & Kimbra) to help build MosaicLab during its start-up phase. It was exciting to be able to help shape this special organisation from scratch and build it on a strong set of values while working with incredibly skilled people I see as mentors.

Many projects also stand out to me as highlights. The ones at the forefront of my mind are deliberative processes where I’ve had the honour of being a project manager and facilitator. These projects make a real difference and lead to better outcomes for people around difficult decisions.

Our research work is also important to me - including our Critical Thinking in Deliberative Processes and Deliberative Participant Change research. This work enables us to advance our practice in an evidence-driven way and start to quantify the powerful impact of deliberative engagement.
