NEW DELIBERATION DICTIONARY SHARES THE A-Z

As part of our commitment to increasing our own, and others’, knowledge around deliberative democracy we decided to pull together a list of commonly used terms in this field.

This led us to the development of the inaugural Deliberation Dictionary!

This dictionary is not exhaustive (as you can see from the link above – there are even some letters without words! Today we are launching edition number one).  Instead, it’s a good place to start assembling the technical terms mainly used in this field.

We hope to build on this base over the coming months and years and provide this central reference as a ‘go to’ for people who are working in, or are new to, this type of work.

THE PLACE TO GO FOR QUALITY DD RESOURCES

We are providing this dictionary as a part of our Deliberative Democracy Resource Hub where we reference a great range of helpful documents, links and videos to support you in your deliberation endeavours.

We’re proud of this Resource Hub, a helpful place for discussion, learning and capacity building.

Our book, Facilitating Deliberation – A Practical Guide, was also launched this year as another example of our desire to advance the practice of deliberative engagement everywhere so that more everyday people are given a say in the decisions that affect their lives.

GOT A WORD TO ADD?

We’re keen to see the Deliberation Dictionary grow with input from our knowledgeable industry colleagues and friends in the field.

Please let us know in the comments below, or on social media, of any additional terms you would like to add to the dictionary.
